THE RARE
venture in the
untranslated

Grand Books takes a holistic approach to the world of books, diversity is the spice of life, and when you reflect it in your reading your view of the world, and yourself, will expand. Therefore, a wide range of different genres are covered throughout this site. Books can entertain us, teach us and inspire us, the only criterion is, as once Seneca said: 'It does not matter how many books you have, but how good the books that you have are.' A list of the crème de la crème will be curated for your enjoyment.

But in order to find the best, someone needs to sort the chaff from the wheat, and that's where Grand Books can assist you. If you would like to save your precious time, someone will do the hard work for you, subscribe to the newsletter to receive a monthly blacklist of mediocre authors and translators.

Are you among those who recognise that grand literature can be found beyond the shelves of best sellers and literary prizes? My international voracious reading friends are a good support for my detective work, keep tuned to discover rare finds that are worth reading in a foreign language. Do you speak Spanish and/or French, German, Farsi? Explore untranslated literature still not available in the English language. Also, bear in mind that you may be able to read my untranslated recommendations in other languages other than the ones mentioned.

Not all literary pearls are written in the language of Shakespeare!

about me

I make love to books with ardor, in different languages. It's sexier, and an effective way to acquire a gifted tongue. My fascination about languages, other than Tantra, seduced me long ago. I speak Spanish, English and French (I studied Translation to BA and MA level in London), and I'm learning German. As you can imagine, learning new languages to read foreign literature, and even write it, is like marriage. Once immersed in a new tongue, it's a continual labour of love, from which I refuse to get divorced. Did I say four languages? Not quite, I'm on my way to acquiring a fifth, because enough is never satisfying.

I'm an aspiring exophonic writer in English—Spanish is my mother tongue. Yes, I'm hooked to challenges, and books, and pleasure. You now get the tip of my iceberg.

Call me subversive when I say dirty poetry is rather a sport, and not an art. Label me, judge me, stigmatise me, but you will remember me, because only free minds can speak the harsh truth. My vision is driven by the idea that books make love, for they contain the secret of life, art and war; the idea that in order to understand the human experience one needs to explore how we originated, the mechanisms of our miseries and complexities—all aspects about sex offer a comprehensive  explanation in this respect. It is for this reason I fight taboos.

Depraved women can be good lovers, especially of the written word. One of my commitments is to disseminate sex education through the best books on human sexuality. But, ultimately, with my passion for languages, challenge the English speaking publishing world for being chauvinistic and short-sighted. In truth, English world literature is less enriched than other literatures that have a long tradition in translation, for its corpus falls short of integrating a comparable volumen of international writers. Can you speak a foreign language? Then you're a cut above the monolingual reader, but, of course, you know that.

Polyglot or not, I hope you find new reads you enjoy on this website and, who knows, one day I may invite you to join a literary orgy at the English, French or Spanish book clubs I run in London or online reading clubs.

Perhaps, you may find inspiration on this platform to venture in the learning of a foreign language, improve your sexual awareness and read the entire world. Boredom? Never.

Don't hesitate to get in touch.

'As she lay naked on the bed like a blank slate, time wrote the secrets of old age on her skin. And instead of seeing lines of wrinkles, she learnt to recite the verses of her beauty within.'
